You don't need an MIT Learn account to browse the MIT Learn catalog, or access content from the MIT OpenCourseWare provider, but you must create a (free) account to enroll in any courses and programs offered via the MIT Learn learning platform—including the Universal AI program, MITx MOOCs, and MITx MicroMasters courses & programs.
If you aren't sure whether you already have an MIT Learn account, navigate to the login page, enter your email address, and click the "Next" button. If you already have an account, the system will ask for your login password. If you don't have an account yet, the system will ask for your information and walk you through the account-creation process.

Important Note: The MITx Online platform is now part of the MIT Learn system. MIT Learn is a new, single portal for all non-degree learning from MIT Open Learning—including the MITx Online platform and others. In time, all of this content will be centralized in MIT Learn—but for now, you may still need to use the MITx Online site to enroll in some courses and your MITx Online Dashboard to manage your enrollments and access some courses. If you created an MITx Online account before approximately September 2025, then you must convert it into an MIT Learn account by changing your account password and updating your information. To do so, simply sign in to the learning platform with your account information and follow the instructions provided by the system. |
Create a new MIT Learn account
- Navigate to the MIT Learn homepage (at https://learn.mit.edu/) and click the "Login" button in the top right corner of the page. Alternatively, click this direct link
- On the next page, enter your email address in the "Email" field and click the "Next" button
- If there is no account associated with your email address, the system will help you create a new account
- If you previously had an MITx Online account with this email address, the system will help you reset your password to convert it into an MIT Learn account
- If you currently have an MIT Learn account with this email address, the system will ask you to enter your password to log in—if you don't remember it, click the "Reset password?" link below the password field to reset your password.
- To create a new account, follow the prompts and enter your information, then click the "Sign Up" button. You must provide:
- Your Full Name
- Your email address
- A Password
- and complete a reCAPTCHA to prove you're a human
- The platform will send you a verification message at the email address you provided
- Check your email account for the Verification Message and click the "Verify Your Email" button/link to continue
- You should receive the verification message within a few minutes, but it can sometimes take longer. If you can't find your verification message, try checking your account's "Spam", "Junk", or other autosorting folders. Automated emails like this one can sometimes get caught in those locations
- The platform may ask you to provide some additional information about yourself and your interests, either the first time you log in or after you enroll in something for the first time. This information is completely optional, but if you provide it, MIT Learn will be better able to provide you with learning materials that you're interested in.
- Congratulations! Your MIT Learn account is now set up, and you can enroll in courses and programs.
